JETSI Project Hosts Student Tours at ACT Expo 2023

Eloy Florez from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) stopped by to chat with students about the growth of the industry they are entering and job opportunities at CARB in their field.

NFI’s Bill Bliem talks to students from Rio Hondo and San Bernardino Valley Colleges about the growing need for electric heavy-duty vehicle technicians, as more fleets move to zero-emission trucks.

Rio Hondo College and San Bernardino Valley College students visited JETSI project partner, Daimler Truck North America, and explored the electric Freightliner eCascadia Class 8 truck.

Students visited JETSI project partner Electrify America and spoke with team members from NFI about charging technology and employment opportunities.

The JETSI Project hosted 20 students and faculty from Rio Hondo College and San Bernardino Valley College’s heavy-duty battery-electric vehicle maintenance programs on May 4, 2023 at ACT Expo.

JETSI is jointly financed by California Air Resources Board and California Energy Commission ($26.98 million), MSRC ($8 million), and South Coast AQMD ($5.4 million), with an additional $21.7 million from Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Southern California Edison, NFI, and Schneider. JETSI is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
